London Fashion Week: Daks AW14

Very annoyed about missing the Daks show on Friday. Why? Because the British heritage brand did a grand job of pushing the boundaries with the AW14 collection, especially for a company that celebrates its 120th anniversary this year. As is now synonymous with the brand, Creative Director Filippo Scuffi produced the classic house check along with some beautiful camel knits (the perfect addition to any woman’s winter wardrobe) but it was his clever use of curved proportions and the extraordinary, tall bear skin hats that made the collection very now. That said, there were some elements – a mish-mash of sheer fabric and black and gold panels and a trench worked into a dress, to name a couple – which appeared to be the Miley or RiRi of the new collection (e.g. try-too-hard/purely there for shock value) and it was a shame – without them, the collection was flawless.
