Last night I attended the VAMFF Discovery Runway, which features up and coming new talent in the state of Victoria. The venue, Melbourne Musuem, was great; the runway snaked its way round the foyer which had been cleared out for the occasion – there must have been over 500 people there! During the show, we were treated to a hauntingly beautiful set by Banoffee (above), whose voice sent goosebumps up my spine and whose music I’ll definitely be downloading.
All of the collections were interesting, but I knew my favourite as soon as I saw it: PAI. The street wear clothing was incredibly high end; the textures and cuts were impressive and wouldn’t look out of place on music stadium tours – think Kanye West, Jay-Z and Drake. The designers, Angie Pai and Adrian Bressanutti presented an inspired collection with their own skill and vision clearly evident in their designs.
I also fell in love with the jumpsuits at Sister; clean silhouettes in winter fabrics teamed with French berets made this a very Celine-esque look. Teamed with trainers, it summed up the Melbourne vibe beautifully – ever chic, relaxed tailoring. Effortless, like the city itself.
