Patiently waiting

They say patience is a virtue and, having waited patiently for two months to get my hands on this dress, I feel very smug indeed that I’m still as in love with it now as I was when I ordered it. (Sadly, it’s no longer available, but the latest collection is online now.)

When the second M&S x GHOST collection launched in April, I placed my order immediately. I couldn’t afford the £345 invoice but I knew the dresses would sell out quickly, and even though I had no intention of keeping all five dresses in my basket I just couldn’t bear the thought of losing out on what was a gorgeous array of spring/summer dresses.

I settled on this one, and my godparents generously offered to give it to me for my birthday – I accepted, more quickly that is polite, and managed to leave it with them for two months until finally I was able to unwrap it. My birthday was on Saturday, and I wore it later that day for a family barbecue to celebrate. Even though I knew what was inside the pretty package, I was just as excited about the puff-shouldered midi dress as I was all those weeks ago.

It’s a strong sign of truly loving something, isn’t it? when something brings as much joy after two months of not seeing it as it did that first time you tried it on.

I’m wearing

Dress, M&S x GHOST (this dress is no longer available, but there are others)
Shoes, Castaner (Carina 60) at Net-a-Porter
Basket, borrowed from my mum-in-law
