Cherry Blossom

All those old sayings about good things coming to those who wait, patience being a virtue, etc are proven this month in Dundee. After weeks of watching other cherry blossoms bloom throughout April, the (now famous) avenue of pink petals in Dawson Park comes to life.

I remember one year a lovely lady reached out to me on Instagram to tell me her father had planted the trees in the 1950s. How special, to have this local attraction within your family history.

Kris asked how long it is we’ve been shooting here for, and I was surprised to discover itgis is our ninth year. We’ve seen them turn every shade of pink, from a vibrant bubble gum to a much paler, milky hue. We’ve also learned to bide our time; it’s usually mid-May when you’ll catch them at their best, like fluffy pink clouds, before the wind or rain shakes the petals loose, fluttering like candy floss snow to the ground.

It truly doesn’t get old, coming here, and it’s easy to understand why people come from all over the city to visit. Standing under a natural canopy of pink petals which appear to go on forever is really pretty special. Especially when you’re wearing your cutest outfits, living your best daydreamer life – I reckon I’ll still be forcing Kris to come here when we’re 80!

It’s the prettiest location for some pictures and I love how your blue dress contracts with the soft pinks <3
