Emily London

Twitter is a wonderful place, full of inspiring people (both famous and not famous) and fascinating stories. It’s also a place full of fashionable types, from designers to editors, bloggers and models. It is on Twitter, that I discovered Emily Baxendale of Emily London
Emily is a milliner based in London who, after a short Twitter conversation, asked me if I wanted to try her new virtual hat consultation. Of course, I love hats so couldn’t possibly turn down an opportunity to have a personal consultation with a milliner who graduated from the London College of Fashion before carrying out her apprenticeship with the Royal milliner and later going on to design collections for established British brands including Fenwick, Acquascutum and Jaeger.
We had our virtual consultation a couple of weeks ago (very relaxed, very now – more on this next week) and from this, Emily decided which of her designs would work with a red dress she’d seen me in the week before. All this, through Facetime! That Emily could tell just which of her designs would suit my own clothes – without having actually met me – demonstrates her expertise and skill. She has an incredible eye for style and an awe-inspiring ability to really see people, and her designs range from ornate to classic to retro. Stay tuned to The Daydreamer next week to find out more and read my interview with Emily.
For now though, here’s the insanely glamorous hat that Emily chose for me and my red lace dress. We all got on very well together indeed, so much so that I reckon we’d have a ball at a festive winter wedding or perhaps a special New Year’s party. There’s just one teeny, tiny problem: I have to return it.

Got a winter wedding this season?
Shop online at Emily London or contact them to arrange a virtual consultation via Facetime or Skype. The easiest, simplest and most fun way to shop for a hat, from the comfort of your sofa!
