What is it about cherry blossom? Each spring, the blossom blooms and with it comes a breath of fresh air after a long, dark winter. A plethora of photographs follow swiftly behind (the cherry blossom never lasts long enough), and though each is a slightly different shade of pink, the pictures are equally as pretty as the next.
It’s as though the cherry blossom tree is from another world, a parallel universe where everything is rose tinted, where the pink light reflects off the leaves onto the powdery ground below, where the sky takes on a purple hue… there may be fairies, there is definitely a unicorn or two… it’s like Narnia, but in spring. This other-worldly quality brings out our inner daydreamer, evoking feelings of hope, of promise.
Cherry blossom season reminds us that life is indeed beautiful, and that – unlike the fake happiness provided by a fancy car or an expensive handbag – the simplicity and wonder of our planet brings real joy and true happiness, to us all.
