Last week I visited Harvey Nichols in Edinburgh to see the new Aspinal of London display, located within the Accessories department on the ground floor (usually my first stop when browsing at Harvey Nicks – right now I’ve got my eye on a pair of Tom Ford sunglasses).
Aspinal of London has always been a firm favourite of mine when it comes to luxury leather. Like Mulberry and Smythson, Aspinal is a timeless British label, a classic that will never date; the designs are simple but relevant for today, the materials are only the best, and the craftsmanship is second-to-none. Aspinal products age beautifully (thanks to the aforementioned materials and craftsmanship) so any purchase is a life long investment, and it’s easy to love the heritage behind the brand. What makes Aspinal such a good fit at Harvey Nichols is the innate sense of style both brands have; Aspinal’s timelessness is endlessly chic, while the contemporary, minimalistic interior of Harvey Nichols lets each brand shine – including its own.
While I was there, Aspinal was embossing all new purchases in celebration of the launch at Harvey Nichols Edinburgh. See? Super chic. It was very cool to watch; the skill of using the press to emboss the leather is very old school, and pretty fascinating to boot. If Aspinal ever does embossing again, I would highly recommend having your initials stamped onto your purchase, or perhaps significant date as a gift to someone special.
Stay tuned next week to see my personalised gift from Aspinal/Harvey Nichols Edinburgh.
With thanks to Aspinal of London and Harvey Nichols Edinburgh.
