Although it’s now the middle of May, the temperature is cool in Scotland. When the sun shines, it feels warm but with the sharp, cold wind – which insists on returning at least once a day – you really can’t leave the house without either a vest or a scarf, or both (I’m getting a bit fed up of wearing a camisole beneath everything!). However, I am excited for summer – the new collections continue to arrive in stores, my favourite magazines are featuring summer fashion spreads, and the trees are proudly showing off their new green leaves. Thus, I’m wearing summer clothes and accessories now, but sensibly so – layered with transitional pieces and, usually, in trouser form. You might call it a balancing act.
These Oasis white jeans are a quick and easy way to look and feel summery, especially when worn with open toe sandals and a summery bag. I adore this Whistles clutch, which actually belongs to my super trendy and super gorgeous friend who always looks totally fabulous – as you can imagine, she shops for Scotland. I wonder if she would notice if I forgot to return her clutch….
The finishing touch? A light cover up. There’s a huge trend for duster coats right now, which is great because a) they’re everywhere, so you can easily find one to suit your needs and budget; b) they instantly update your look and c) they are the perfect weight for this time of year. This one is from the Loved By Mollie collection at Oasis. It’s really great quality and is a light shade of khaki: good for the summer months, and looks very cool when teamed with gold and silver stacking rings by Dundee based jeweller, Jane Gowans.
I’m Wearing: duster coat, Oasis / jeans, Oasis / t-shirt, Matalan / sunglasses, Dolce & Gabbana / clutch bag, Whistles / rings, Jane Gowans / shoes, Primark.
How do you wear summer style now?
