Beauty Busters: John Frieda Frizz Ease

Yep, I’m bringing you another hair care review! This time I’m telling you about a couple of products from the John Frieda Frizz Ease collection, a range that took the haircare world (at consumer level, anyway) by storm when it launched years back. I remember when I was around twenty EVERYONE was using the original Frizz Ease serum, partly because it was one of the only frizz taming products on the market but also because it really did smooth flyaways and frizz.

I’ve been using the Frizz Ease Nourishing Oil Elixir (with Argan Oil) (£9.99) and the Frizz Ease Miraculous Recovery Intensive Masque (£5.99). I have to be honest – the masque definitely moisturises the hair and it feels great when slathered on in the shower – but I couldn’t tell you if it made much difference to the condition of my hair with regular use. It feels good, and I feel good using it, but I didn’t see any noticable difference to the condition of my hair, which really is a frizz ball. No, really.

However, the Oil Elixir is AMAZING. I use Avon’s version of Moroccan oil as an overnight mask a couple of times a week and a tiny amount (the size of a pea) after washing, which I love, but I do find it too heavy to apply to my hair when it’s dry – I end up looking like a grease ball, which, if you ask me, is worse than a frizz ball. So, when the lovely ladies at John Frieda sent me a sample of the Oil Elixir, I was sceptical (yet another hair oil product) but I’m so glad I tried it out; on dry hair, it smooths the hair strands brilliantly and because it’s so light, it doesn’t feel like you’ve put loads of crap in your hair. I use it every time I wash, but I wait until my hair is part dry before applying a small amount of the Elixir throughout. Then I comb the hair gently (never brush wet hair) and wait until it’s fully dry before applying another small amount of Elixir – the key is not to use too much product all at once. Like your eyeshadow or bronzer, build it up slowly.

I absolutely love this product and I honestly see a difference in my hair when I use it; my puff ball looks smoother, glossier, shinier and richer – put simply, it looks and feels healthier. Massive thumbs up to John Frieda for the Oil Elixir.
