I need an abnormal amount of sleep. I mean, really – like, ten hours a night would be ideal. Obviously, the life of a (fairly) responsible adult means that on average, I get around eight hours sleep a night rather than the ten to twelve hours of a teenager. Eight hours isn’t bad, especially when so many others probably sleep even less- however, when I start to burn the candle at both ends I always, always, end up really run down. In short, on a general basis I have dark circles beneath my eyes, which only get worse the busier life gets. So, at this time of year when there are plenty of social gatherings being organised and as deadline at the mag approaches, I have to upgrade from my every day concealer (Benefit’s Erase Paste) to something more light reflecting. I’m talking about Shiseido Natural Finish Cream Concealer.
The gorgeous Jenine sent me a sample of this super concealer and the few times I’ve used it (I keep it for emergencies!) I’ve really, really liked it. In particular, I like that it’s really light, in two senses; it’s light in colour, reflecting the light to make dark circles seem less obvious, and it’s light in texture, meaning there’s no risk of product build up, which can often make the delicate eye area look cakey (yeuch).
There are different shades of the Shiseido Natural Finish Cream Concealer so you can choose the right colour to suit your skin tone and the handy wee tube has an angled nozzle to make sure you don’t squeeze too much out at once!
The Shiseido Natural Finish Cream Concealer is a good consistency; it’s quite thin and not at all gloopy, so it smooths over the under-eye area easily without dragging the skin and is easily applied again later, even without moisturiser, making touch-ups easy and simple. I also really like that it smells more like a nice face or eye cream, rather than fragranced make up, which I find can sometimes irritate the skin. As I said, I tend to keep this concealer as an under-eye repair kit when times are really bad, as it really is quite special – I don’t know what I’d do in emergencies without Shiseido!
