Fans of The Daydreamer will already know that I have been assisting with the production and communication of Hayley Scanlan’s launch of her diffusion line, HS. The experience has involved a lot of hard work, but a hell of a lot of fun too.
The invitation-only event was held on Saturday night at The McManus – guests were treated to a Champagne reception before watching the runway show which was held in the V&A Dundee’s Selling Dreams: 100 Years of Fashion gallery. An iconic backdrop for what is sure to be an iconic collection!
The show was a huge success; Hayley’s first HS collection – entitled “Velvet Venom” – features her famous prints (yellow snakeskin, black mock croc, bold stripes) which make for a fun, modern aesthetic, while the simple cut of the garments creates contemporary chic.
There is a length to suit everyone (mini, midi and maxi) and you can even mix and match: Hayley styled the black mock croc maxi skirt with a matching crop top, but I would adapt the look for my own style and shape by teaming the maxi skirt with a simple white T, a statement necklace and vertiginous heels.
Everyone loved the show and the guests seemed genuinely pleased for Hayley and her new venture. Hayley gave a heartfelt (if somewhat unprepared!) speech and thanked everyone who has helped her on her journey so far. Generously, she gave Chanel to a lucky few (moi included) and there were HS goody bags for guests, which included a HS phone cover and St Tropez products.
Fabulous party aside, “Velvet Venom” is an exciting new collection to kick-start an exciting new label, by a very exciting new designer. Hayley has achieved so much in such a short space of time (both personally and professionally) and I can only see a bright future ahead for her. She is a beautiful young woman, who is smart as well as talented, and she has an amazing support network around her. I predict that HS will be a sell-out – so log on to www.hayleyscanlan.com now and bag yourself a little bit of fashion history-in-the-making!
Make sure you check Delta for Dundee’s street style –
the next three weeks are dedicated to the HS launch!
love the collection! We need more talent showcasing like this in Scotland! x
