Fashion Targets Breast Cancer: Five Minutes With Rosie Fortescue

Rosie Fortescue, the uber chic star of reality TV show Made in Chelsea took five minutes out of her busy but oh-so-glamorous schedule to chat with The Daydreamer about her support of Fashion Targets Breast Cancer, a charity that collaborates with the British high street to raise awareness of breast cancer through fashion.

What drew you to Fashion Targets Breast Cancer over other charities?

The way the charity fundraises for me is super important. I love the idea of getting people to wear their support, which really gives the campaign such strength. Of course I love to feature the brands on my blog too and encourage others to style the products.

Was your role in Made in Chelsea the reason behind working with Fashion Targets Breast Cancer? Or is breast cancer awareness something you have always been keen to be involved with?

I have always been keen to get involved with a breast cancer charity, but Fashion Targets Breast Cancer is definitely a great one as I can reach out to fans of the show and my blog to wear their support and get involved with the campaign too. It’s great to be able to take advantage of being in the public eye when working with a charity and to reach out to as many people as possible.

Why do you think Fashion Targets Breast Cancer works so well in raising awareness?

I definitely think the fact that great brands have collaborated with Fashion Targets Breast Cancer is key to the campaign. The clothes and accessories are genuinely wearable and fashionable. Fashion is fun and speaks to women, so wearing our support is key.

How would you argue the importance of fashion?

I’d say fashion is important, however, for me, I dress to my mood and how I feel that day.

Would you agree that fashion is a method of escapism?

Definitely. There’s no better way to express yourself that through what you wear and how you want others to see you. The world can be incredibly fickle and fashion is a way of outwardly expressing our thoughts.

Are you involved in any Fashion Targets Breast Cancer events or personal appearances during the campaign?

I went to the launch party a couple of weeks ago and I will be featuring the products on my blog and showing how I style them.

What’s your favourite piece from the Fashion Targets Breast Cancer range?

The pink Supergas are totally dreamy and great for summer!

We regularly see you wearing high fashion and high street. Which do you prefer and why? Any top labels you love?

I love mixing high fashion and high street. I tend to invest in jewellery and handbags and regularly update my wardrobe with pieces from the high street like Zara. River Island jeans fit me perfectly so always buy several pairs a season!

Top style tip this summer?

Wear colour! I tend to find it hard to wear colour but have bought some great colourful pieces on the high street recently.

After MiC and Fashion Targets Breast Cancer, what’s next for you this year?

I am currently designing my own jewellery collection and have a clothing collaboration coming out in a couple of months so watch this space!
