Fashion designer, Hayley Scanlan continues to climb the ladder of success (she recently collaborated with Topshop and her designs have been seen on this year’s X Factor) but the Dundee born designer remains supportive of her home city – tomorrow, she launches her pop-up shop with Debenhams in Dundee.
Hayley’s pop-up within Dundee’s favourite department store will be open from Thursday 24th October until Sunday 27th October, allowing fashion fans to see Hayley’s current Queen of Hearts collection first hand, as well as a selection of bespoke pieces exclusive to Debenhams. You’ll find the pop-up on the ground floor, near the main entrance next to the popular Beauty Hall.
If you haven’t seen Hayley’s designs on the X Factor (or Little Mix, or Stooshe, or Jessie J), head along to the pop-up this weekend to check them out. The current Hayley Scanlan collection will doubtlessly attract new customers thanks to her Prince of Wales check, but the bodycon silhouette and news signature print (think red, white and blue – very patriotic!) is sure to please her existing fans. The unique combination of the classic check and patent black trims and industrial zips result in a collection fit for any punk queen, an aesthetic which was born out of Hayley’s love for Debbie Harry and Mary Queen of Scots. She says, “Debbie Harry is one of my icons. I loved the idea of pairing someone like her, with an equally rebellious heroine, Mary Stuart, the former Queen of Scotland. This is a collection that has taken me deep into the heart of my Scottish roots and represents a strong and feisty femininity.”
Having been a fan of Hayley’s for a while now (I’m proud to say I wrote her website bio), I’m super excited to see what she’s done for Debenhams, particularly after her AMAZING leather frill crop top and pencil skirt for Topshop. Colin McLean, Dundee store manager, is excited about the collaboration too especially as he is to be able to support a rising star of Scottish talent. He says, “Debenhams has a long standing history of supporting emerging design talent and we are delighted to be able to showcase a young designer who is based on our doorstep. Her new collection is fun, edgy and and will really appeal to shoppers who are looking to stand out from the crowd.”
