Saunders (originally from Scotland, now based in London) is renowned for his feminine yet sophisticated designs that are loved by women around the globe, and this season he has excelled yet again. As a huge fan of Saunders, my favourite pieces in this collection are the numerous beautiful dresses in thick winter fabrics and the sheer blouses (made demure by strategically placed vibrant pops of floral embroidery).
I sat next to the lovely Eve, who I’ve been Tweeting for months but never actually met, and we gushed over the fabrics, the cut, the shoes….everything. After the show, there was a brilliant Q&A session led by Ruth Walker (wearing fabulous shoes), throughout which Saunders was inspirational and motivational, but completely down-to-earth, laughing and joking with his captive audience. When I asked him if he thought you could be successful in the fashion industry without relocating to London, he said yes – but that the experience of London and travel is imperative.
Afterwards, guests enjoyed yet more Champagne and I had a wee chat with the lovely Mr Saunders before dashing off through the Scottish rain to catch my train home.
