Knit + Stretch

After exploring the hot, dusty city of Marrakech, the husband and I decided to have some chill out time in Dunkeld, at the Hilton House Hotel where we were married. It’s always been a special place; we used to walk our dog, Mya, in the grounds along the riverbank before eating a delicious lunch at the hotel. Then, in 2012 we said our vows and, in the years that have followed, we’ve taken Jake to enjoy the hotel too. Having had three wonderful but exhausting days in Marrakech (and thus away from our fur baby), Dunkeld was a no brainer.

I knew immediately that I was going with cosy, comfy autumn clothes; the Scottish temperature was a bit of a shock after the 30 degree heat of Morocco! Plus, we planned to totally relax, which always means a no-fuss wardrobe, along with natural hair and very little make up. Obviously, a cosy knit was top of the list along with a pair of chic but comfortable jeans that worked for day and night (we had booked dinner at the hotel).

This Damart cardigan (£35) was perfect for casually slinging over my shoulders for an al fresco lunch, and just as good for keeping me as snug as a bug when we walked Jake into town, along the riverbank, drizzle and all. It’s the kind of cardi to curl up in, drinking hot chocolate in front of an open fire while reading a classic book (tick, tick, tick). I teamed it with Damart’s black jeggings (they also come in indigo, and I’ll post about them next week). They are honestly my new favourites, for every occasion – I can’t express how impressed I am by them! They’ve got a lot of stretch, so walking the dog was easy (no pinched skin from too stiff denim – isn’t that just the worst?) but the back pockets give really good shape, so, as comfortable as I was, I didn’t feel like a slob in my five star surroundings.

What I love even more about the jeggings (other than being just £19) is that they are a really cute, slightly loose, cropped length – when I wore them to dinner with my strappy heels and a plain black top, they went instantly from comfy jeggings tucked into UGGs to glamorous, dinner-date-ready. The best thing? The elastic waistband! So good for lazing around eating carbs and drinking £48 bottles of red wine (totally by accident – don’t ask), without compromising on style.

NB: This post was sponsored by Damart – but trust me, I love the brand, I’ve been blogging about Damart for ages.

It’s so pretty there, and a chunky knit is a must at this time of year, especially in front of a crackling fire!

That looks a great combination for a couple of days away.
