Outfit Post: Damart AW13

For those who don’t know, Damart is a UK heritage brand created in the Fifties. Over the decades, Damart developed from a small, family business specialising in thermal clothing into an international brand with a range of clothing, from the original thermal pieces right through to coats, dresses, underwear and even a home range. They’ve gone from mail order to online and have managed to retain the sense of family closeness by continuing to stock classic Damart pieces (such as the thermals) and keeping their headquarters in Yorkshire, while making the brand very current with the expertise of fashion industry professionals.

Until the AW13 lookbook dropped through my letterbox (it features model, Alice Rauche, photographer, Rick Turner and super cool styling by Julie Dickson) I wasn’t aware of Damart, but I’m so glad I’ve discovered it. I told my mum all about this really cool lookbook I’d received, explaining that it was from an online catalogue type of label – Damart. As soon as I said the name, she exclaimed, “Oh, Damart! They’re a great brand, very British.”

So, it seems that Damart is still keeping their loyal customers happy while attracting new ones. They kindly sent me some of the AW13 collection, including this gorgeous black and white print coat – I simply had to share it with you.

Me
Coat: Damart
Hat: East
Scarf: Debenhams
Top: Matalan
Trousers: Matalan
Pumps: Wallis
Bag: Westport Gallery, Dundee
Jake
Lead: Pet Shop, St Andrews
I was also sent a pink tunic style sweater with a classic v-neck – the perfect addition to my wardrobe this season, what with fashion’s obsession for all things pink – and a black thermal vest with lace straps and trim and a cute pink bow. The thermal vest was originally designed in pink to support breast cancer fundraising and awareness, but they’ve continued it in black as it was so popular! Here are a couple of shots from Damart’s AW13 lookbook, which really is a piece of work in itself. There so many pieces from the collection that I need!  These include a black and white print dress, a print jersey skirt (both must-haves for my upcoming trip to Australia!), a navy blouse, classic black trousers and a shawl collar cardi. Oh, and the terracotta thermal trousers. In fact, I want the entire lookbook!
