My gem of a mother gave me a gift. A beautifully made, black tux jacket by Jaeger. The sleeves stop short of the wrist (great for showing off a fabulous cuff), the lapels are a rich, shiny satin and the jacket stops at the right point of my waist. I paired it with tux trousers and accessorised with simple black sandals, my new quilted Lulu Guinness shoulder bag, a cocktail ring and a pair of statement earrings by Kenneth Jay Lane. Waaay out of my comfort zone – you guys know how much I love a dress! Of course, the androgynous look called for an up do, for which I chose a bun – but I think a low ponytail with middle parting and a rich, berry lip would look better. But I don’t wear lippy. One step at a time.
