Warm and comfortable aren’t the most stylish descriptors when it comes to fashion but, increasingly, they are a reflection of what I’m actually looking for in my life. As someone who’s worn a vest every day from September to May since primary school, I really do put warm and comfy up there with stylish and chic. That’s why I love this coat; thanks to the soft, padded material and quilted design and oversize pockets, it’s the perfect bridge between warm and stylish, comfy and chic.
I’ve been wearing it casually over leggings or jeans with a pair of trainers and a woolly hat, but it looks really great with big hair, a full face of make up and a pair of heels. I love that I don’t have to compromise on looking smart to make sure I feel cosy. What’s more, this coat will take me seamlessly from winter to spring; while my winter knitwear is accommodated easily, the lining is so soft that it actually feels good against bare skin. Ideal for those mild lunchtimes sandwiched between cold morning and evening commutes.
One last thing to love about going from winter to spring with this coat is the colour. It’s off-white, I’d say ecru or a very light, pale greige – but don’t let that give you the fear, it’s really easy to keep clean, which is hugely important when wearing winter and summer whites. They’re not the most practical choice when you live in Scotland with two little kids and a border collie but you can safely chuck this in the machine on a regular cycle and leave it to dry beautifully on a hanger. Even better, there’s no need an iron or steamer so you can get back inside this cloud-of-a-coat without any hassles.
