Summer is made for pretty dresses and straw baskets, wouldn’t you agree? This dress was in my shopping bag before I could say, “I’m dotty for you!” (Sorry.)
Bad puns aside, it really did catch my eye as soon as I saw it. And, at just £35 it was a no-brainer. Polka dots are a timeless print, one that I’ve worn for many years, and now they’re definitely having a moment. This is both good and bad news; good because, well, I love a good polka dot, but not-so-good because now so does everyone else.
This particular dress is viscose – nice and light, perfect for summer – and is a real wrap dress rather than imitation, so you can cinch it as tightly or as loosely as lunch will allow. The length makes it ideal for a pretty but practical daytime look when worn with plimsoles, but oh-so-flirty with strappy gold sandals for date night.
What is it about polka dots that makes them so utterly loveable? The fact that they’re so classic? That they’re fun but not totally out there? Or simply that they’re so wearable? Tell me your thoughts, I’d love to know.
I’m wearing
