Last week I popped along to Time, a fairly new boutique in Dundee, to have a nosey around the latest pop-up by Kerrie Aldo.
Founded last year by Nicola Donnelly, Time Lifestyle Boutique is located in city centre, on Reform Street. Nicola’s vision was to establish a lifestyle boutique that offered quality products with solid design credentials and an element of luxury; her choice of combining luxury brands (such as Prestat choccies) and Scottish designers means that Nicola’s vision is certainly being brought to life, and she is quickly establishing a clear personality and branding for Time.
One aspect of Time that is particularly unique is the internal ‘pop-up’ shops that have been a visible part of the boutique since late last year. On the run up to Christmas, Time had a series of 14 pop-ups and these small but perfectly formed showcases continue to draw in customers for 2015 with designers such as Karen Mabon and Laura Darling featuring already this year.
Most recently, Kerrie Aldo joined forces with Time, showing her popular jackets and her brand new cat bags, which have been flying off the shelves. The next pop-up is Suzanne Scott, the designer who was commissioned to commemorate Dundonians who made a contribution to science and society. Suzanne’s pop-up at Time features in the Ignite programme, a festival of culture that contains the final year shows from Abertay, Duncan of Jordanstone and Dundee & Angus College, demonstrating that Nicola’s vision is reaching far beyond the confines of Time’s four walls and well into the heart of the city of Dundee.
