Love Dundee

DUNDEE TAY NIGHT

Following on from yesterday’s post on Dundee, I thought I’d tell you about a local campaign being run by Overgate Shopping Centre, called #LoveDundee. Ahead of Valentine’s Day, anyone visiting the Overgate can write down (or use a picture to display) the reason they love Dundee, and pin it to a poster of the city for everyone to see. The plan is for the poster to be covered in little notes of love, and at the end of the campaign one of these tiny love letters will be selected as the winner of some amazing Valentine’s-inspired prizes. It’s a great campaign that will remind us of the good things about Dundee, a city that has – in the past – suffered from a poor reputation. #LoveDundee is a great way for Overgate to engage with their customers, but also the community – it’s fun, but it’s also a little ego boost for Dundee, a way in which we can increase our self confidence during a time when we are beginning to receive global recognition for what we have to offer. The people of Dundee need to believe, and show everyone else that a little love really can go a long way.

As Carrie Bradshaw once said about her city: “If you only get one great love, New York may just be mine. And I can’t have nobody talking shit about my boyfriend. A short while later, I had a thought…. Maybe the past is like an anchor holding us back. Maybe you just have to let go of who you were, to become who you will be.”

Overgate’s #LoveDundee campaign will run in the shopping centre until Valentine’s Day. Remember to share your Dundee love note online with the hashtag.

How can I get a copy of this photo? My husband is from Dundee and this would make a great Christmas gift.

Nothing from him yet. I want this for Christmas, so time is an issue. Could you please contact him again, or give me his email address? Thanks.
