I feel like I’m constantly blogging about M&S just now! First was the amazing beaded necklace (sure to brighten up any comfy t-shirt); second was the beauty review last Friday; and third, is the new AW13 Leading Ladies campaign.
M&S has enlisted 12 of Britain’s leading ladies to feature in the AW13 campaign (launching 3rd September), the most striking image of which is this one – the ladies modelling M&S coats in front of London’s iconic Tower Bridge. Shot by renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz, the image portrays a distinctly British picture thanks to the grey skies (synonymous with our winters) and the murky water of The Thames.
What I love about this image is that, not only is it AMAZING (Markies are really upping their street cred by hiring Leibovitz) but it looks distinctly British – the colours, the clothes, the women. They are all gorgeous ladies and look great in the M&S collection but, despite looking so blooming good, it’s easy to relate to at least one of these women. Perhaps this is because their beauty is incredibly diverse, but it probably also has something to do with their very different backgrounds – they have all achieved great things in their lives, from athletics to ballet, charity work to NHS employment, music to movies, art to fashion to writing. Their beauty and success isn’t intimidating (it’s inspiring) and I say well done to M&S, a brand that has managed to retain its British high street roots while showing the fashion pack just how stylish it really is. Oh, and reminding the rest of us that we really can do anything we put our minds to – and look super chic while doing it!
I simply have to have Katie’s entire outfit! (She’s wearing the white coat and leather leggings, first left).
